A panel of experts from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) will conduct a study on property registration using maps in Maharashtra, India.

This move comes after a rise in complaints related to land grabbing and unauthorized construction activities in the state. The panel will study the existing system of property registration and recommend necessary changes to prevent such activities.

The use of maps in property registration will help to identify the boundaries of the land accurately, which can help to reduce the number of disputes and fraudulent practices. The IGR panel will explore the feasibility of integrating maps into the registration process and recommend the necessary infrastructure and technology upgrades required to make this possible. This study is expected to benefit the citizens of Maharashtra and provide a more transparent and secure process for property registration.

Since the maps are currently unavailable, the committee will have to make recommendations regarding how they will be prepared and how, if included, the maps will improve the accuracy of the allocations.
