Sindhudurg is the southernmost district in Maharashtra, India, known for its pristine coastline and beaches. The district is named after the Sindhudurg Fort, which is a historic island fort that was built by the Maratha king Shivaji in the 17th century. The district is also known for its scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage, including a number of temples, historical sites, and ancient rock-cut caves. Additionally, the district is a popular tourist destination and is known for its traditional Konkan foods and festivals.

The southernmost part of Sindhudurg, which we refer to as “South Maharashtra,” is the region accessible within a 75-minute drive from New Goa International Airport, or Manohar International Airport, which opened in January 2023. Please send us a Whatsapp message for more details about our South Maharashtra consultation services.

South Maharashtra offers an exciting capital appreciation opportunity because it remains relatively undeveloped, and therefore, unspoiled, when compared to North Goa. It represents a new tourism opportunity focused on peacefulness, natural beauty and wildlife exploration – different from North Goa’s reputation as the entertainment capital of India.

The proximity of an airport to a tourist region can have a significant impact on land values in the area. The presence of an airport typically makes a region more accessible to visitors, which can increase the demand for real estate and drive up land values. An airport can also lead to the development of new hotels, restaurants, and other tourist-oriented businesses, which can create jobs and further boost the local economy. This can also increase the demand for real estate, leading to higher land values. These areas will benefit from improved connectivity, but will not be directly in flight path, meaning that there will be no noise pollution.

Beaches in South Maharashtra

Some of our favourite beaches in South Maharashtra are all driving distance from the Mopa airport. As this tourism and real estate investment in this region grows more common, we hope that sustainable tourism and development principles are implemented, preserving the quiet charm and peaceful culture of these areas. Here are three of our favourite beaches to visit in South Maharashtra

Redi Beach

Redi Beach is known for its soft sand, crystal clear waters, and relative obscurity – making it a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and other water activities

Shiroda Beach is surrounded by lush green hills and offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea. In addition to its natural beauty, the beach is also home to several historic temples, including the Sri Ram Temple and the Shri Jayanteshwar Temple. These temples attract visitors from all over India, who come to pray and seek blessings.
